Tea Party, Augusta, GA

Before I give my recap of our Tea Party...I'd like to take a moment to respond to The Wicked Witch of D.C. Nancy Pelosi who said that this movement is funded at the highest levels to trick people into supporting tax cuts for the rich. That this is not a grass roots movement. Lady, are you naturally stupid or did you have to , ya know, take a class? Our Tea Party was funded and sponsored by local small businesses here in Augusta. You can deny it all day, but try not to trip over stuff while you're running from the facts. We are tired of an unconstitutional, overreaching, out of control, government telling us what to do and what's best for us. The place you work is called Capitol Hill, not Mt. Olympus; and all of us....democrat, republican, conservative, liberal, tall, short, skinny, fat, gay, straight, bi, male, female, gender confused, christian, jew, muslim, buddhist, atheist, ALL of us are FREE CITIZENS of the United States of America, not, as badly as you would like for us to be.......subjects of the federal government. So if you want to get right down to the bare bones facts Ms. Speaker.....YOU inspired this movement, so take the credit where credit is due.

Now, on to the party!



That was the theme of our rally. Not Obama bashing or democrat bashing (although there was little of that..we couldn't help it as it is REALLY fun), but out of control spending (by both sides of the aisle) bashing.

There were about 1,600 people there (according to WJBF channel 6 news) which is a pretty good turn out for Republicans in the middle of the work week.





It was held on the banks of the Savannah River and it was a gorgeous day, which Tony Powers from "Powers to the People" on our local talk radio station said was proof that God is a conservative. :) The rally started out with extreme right wing radical stuff like the reciting of the Pledge of Allegiance, on our feet, with our hands over our hearts, and using the word God. The Star Spangled Banner was sung by a beautiful 12 year old named Cindy...and again we stood. After all of that radical behavior, there was a prayer. I'm expecting Ol' Janet at my door any minute now.



One of our speakers was Congressman Paul Brown (R-GA 10th District) who is a passionate advocate of the FairTax. He is one of the few people who call for the FairTax on the floor of the House in full view of The Wicked Witch of D.C. Nancy Pelosi.......so you know he's a brave guy.



The rally cry yesterday was U.S.A.....until Congressman Brown spoke...then it became S.O.S. Stop Outrageous Spending. He is a man who says what he believes and believes what he says. He's calling out elected officials on both sides of the aisle for their unconstitutional behavior.

The next guy to speak was a writer for our local paper....The Augusta Chronicle who talked about repealing the 16th amendment to the Constitution (which allows Congress to collect an income tax) so the tax code can be replaced with the FairTax and the IRS (along with the money spent on it by the Federal Government and the money spent by citizens preparing/filing their taxes, could be put to better use.) Now, Congress itself is not going to call for a Constitutional Congress to discuss and debate this issue. But they don't have to. Article 5 of the Constitution allows for the Citizens of the U.S. to do it. You need the legislative bodies of 2/3 of the states (that would be 34, h/t to Michael Ryan for doing the math thingie for us....makes my head hurt. *hair twirl*) to ask for it and then Congress has no choice but to call it. That was our challenge yesterday, to get to work..now, today, contacting our state legislature and get them to draft a resolution calling for a Constitutional Congress. That is the first step to bringing the FairTax into the realm of possibility. Now is the right time for this and we need to stay fired up and get to work people. We need to put a stop to our out of control government and put the power of government back where it belongs...in the hands of the People.


The rally yesterday was awesome. We met some great people, had a lot of fun, ate some BBQ and drank some sweet tea (obvy), and learned a lot about what we, as citizens can do to protect ourselves from the government.

You Know What "They" Say

I have been asked several times since the presidential election of 2008 what I think of my new president. My response is always the same: "Barack Obama is not my president." I am then met with the same retort: "That's not very patriotic." Really? Well, I tend to agree with Theodore Roosevelt who said: "Patriotism means to stand by the country. It does not mean to stand by the President or any other public office save exactly to the degree in which he himself stands by the country." And as Mr. Obama has seen fit to disparage my country, both at home and abroad, I choose not to stand by him.

He has also seen fit to do everything in his power (and somethings I'm 100% sure are not in his power) to dismantle the free market system and individual freedom. He is using a very real economic crisis to expand the power of government to heights never dreamed of in America before. He is using people's fear about their own individual situations to try and convince us that government is the solution to our problems, rather than the ingenuity and strength of the American spirit. John Adams warned us about this very thing when he said: "The government turns every contingency into an excuse for enhancing power in itself." The problem with Mr. Obama's solution is that if the government provides for every need and ignores the power of the individual, it takes away freedom. It takes away the freedom of the individual and of society to succeed or fail on their own. When you have taken that, you cease to be the president of a free people and instead become the master of an enslaved one. Is that truly the legacy Mr. Obama wishes to leave? Is it really the choice he would make for his children? It is not the legacy left to us by our Founding Fathers. Thomas Jefferson said in his first Inaugural Address: "Still one thing more, fellow citizens, a wise and frugal government which shall restrain men from injuring one another, shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned. This is the sum of good government."

Our Founding Fathers envisioned a country where individuals raised their families and realized their dreams through hard work, not through government interference. They believed in helping those less fortunate than themselves through their own choice and not by government mandate. They did not believe it was the government's responsibility to dictate to the individual how successful they were allowed to be or how much of that success should be taken from them. Wanting to make sure everyone has the same stuff is a well intentioned goal, but an unreachable one. The Constitution guarantees us each an equal opportunity but what you make of that opportunity is up to you. Not wanting anyone to be poor or hungry or homeless sounds like good intentions, but government isn't the answer. Each individual is responsible for their own life and their own choices and must live with the ups and downs of that life and those choices. But as Americans we care about people, so when our government tells us they want to help the poor we believe they are truly thinking of the plight of the less fortunate, but Daniel Webster didn't. He said "Good intentions will always be pleaded for every assumption of authority. It is hardly too strong to say that the Constitution was made to guard the people against the dangers of good intentions. There are men in all ages who mean to govern well, but they mean to govern. They promise to be good masters, but they mean to be masters."

You see, our freedoms and liberty do not come from the government, nor were they granted to us by the Constitution. We are born with them and the Constitution was written to protect our freedoms and liberty from an over-reaching government.

We see what's going on. We see the government stealing our liberty and telling us that it is for the greater good. Telling us that it is the government's job to take away a substantial portion of the income of productive citizens and giving it to, well let's just say, less productive citizens, so that everything is fair. But one of the framers of our government had a very different idea. Thomas Jefferson said: "The democracy will cease to exist when you take away from those who are willing to work and give to those who are not." Now, it could be just me, but I think Thomas Jefferson had a better idea than anyone breathing today as to what the framer's of the Constitution thought about the role of government in our lives.

We see what the government is up to and slowly but surely more and more Americans are figuring out that they don't like it. We are not sheep, (the 2008 presidential election results not withstanding) and we will not allow our freedoms to be taken from us. Woodrow Wilson said: "Liberty has never come from the government. Liberty has always come from the subjects of government. The history of liberty is the history of resistance."

We will not stand idly by while this administration dispenses with the foundations of personal liberty and personal responsibility that this nation was built on. Patrick Henry said: "I know not what course others may take, but as for me, give me liberty or give me death." He didn't say that because he thought that in a couple hundred years it would look good on a t-shirt. He said it because he was an American Patriot. He was a man who would truly rather be dead than to live in the shadow of a tyrannical government with its hands in every part of his life. We too are American Patriots. We too will resist tyranny. The spirits of our Founding Fathers are alive in us still and we will fight against the usurpation of our power and our freedom. Because when forced to choose between liberty and tyranny, people generally and Americans specifically will choose liberty. And if it is denied us.... well, what Patrick Henry said.

Inherited, Inschmerited

As we all know, our Dear Leader doesn't seem to have grasped the complexities of his new job. He also doesn't seem to understand the purpose of an election campaign. Since I am a Patriotic American, I will attempt to 'splain it to him.

Now, let's say, for the sake of argument, that this is the truth:





Let's say that George W. Bush single handedly tanked the economy, destroyed every good relationship we had around the world AND is responsible for Islamic terrorism man made disasters, the illegal alien undocumented worker problem, AND the violence in Mexico. That does not then make this true:





You see, Mr. Obamuh, you did not INHERIT anything. Mr. Bush did not die and leave the Oval Office to you in his will. You actively campaigned for the job. You asked us and the MSM BEGGED us to give you the job. Well now you've got it. I'm sure that it came as a big shock to you that along with the super-cool plane, nifty windbreaker, and ya know, a free teleprompter, that the job also came with an economy, foreign policy issues, national security issues, and gift giving issues. And that you would be responsible for all of those things all at the same time. I'm sure that you were unaware that you would also have to hire a gazillion peeps to work for you. That's deal tho' bud...you asked for it, you got it, and I don't think it's asking a lot to expect you to do it. Now, I don't expect anyone to know everything about everything so I put together a list of books that might be helpful to you in these troubling times:

That should get you started Sir. Oh, and also, if you could stop spending the tax payer's your employer's money zipping around the country and doing stupid things like going on Leno and insulting special needs children...well that would be just great. And, I'm having trouble feeding my family, so if you could send some of the $100 a pound beef you're serving at your cocktail parties my way, that would be appreciated. I remember you saying something about spreading the wealth around, and I like beef.

And you should really stop screeching about using tax payer dollars to pay ridiculous amounts of money to people who suck at their jobs....because people are going to start to wonder why we are paying Congress and, well, you.

I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it any more!

All this talk about Rhianna and Chris Brown got me thinking about the situation the American People are in right now. I know, you're wondering how I got from domestic abuse to American Politics and I'll get there in a second. But first I want to say something to Rhianna.....Sweetie, Oprah was right, if he hit you once, he WILL hit you again.

Now on to the point.

The American people have Battered Woman Syndrome. We are being abused by those in power. They lie to us, cheat us, steal from us, bitch slap us, and then tell us that it is all our fault. We have gotten complacent and seem to have come to the conclusion, as do many battered women, that this is the best we can do, that this is the best we deserve. Oh, at the moment of the abuse...a disastrous immigration bill, or a huge mondo spending bill, we get a little angry and make some calls or throw some tea in a fountain, but in the end, we just take it.

We complain that congress as a whole is a big joke, but not our individual representatives. OUR senators or congressmen/women are real jewels...it's the REST of Washington that lost its mind. Just like battered women who will tell you "he loves me, he didn't mean to hurt me." And like battered women, we feel as if we have no recourse, this is just the way it is, and so we keep going back for more. Well, just like domestic abusers, congress takes that as a signal from us that their behavior is acceptable. So, they continue to lie to us, cheat us, steal from us, and bitch slap us.

Well, unlike battered women, our abuse is OUR fault. We CAN make it stop. We have the power to show our abusers that their behavior is NOT acceptable, that we do have some dignity and self esteem. We could, with very little effort, stop the abuse. Our founding fathers (and mothers) left us with the power to totally remake our government. But we keep electing the same group of power crazed ego maniacs who have forgotten the definition of "public service" and expecting a different result. We expect that they will suddenly "get it", that they will, finally, realize that their behavior is unacceptable and will suddenly choose to do the right thing. Not gonna happen. If they hit you once, they will hit you again. If you let them. I say NO MORE! I will not be treated as if I don't matter any longer. I will no longer vote for people who put their own interests above those of our country. I will no longer vote for people who have forgotten that they work for me, and have been working for themselves. When the midterm elections come up in 2010...I'm not voting for anyone who has been in my state legislature or the congress for more than 2 terms. It's time to get a new partner folks, the one we have is abusive, power hungry, and a control freak and does not care what happens to us or our children.

It's time to kick 'em to the curb. It's the same thing I was told when I was with an abusive partner, if you have to leave with nothing but the clothes on your back.....leave. Well, this is my house and I'm not leaving.....but I am kicking some folks to the curb in 2010 and 2012. I am asking you to stand up with me...there is strength in numbers guys, and there are way more of us than there are of them. We need to send the message that the current behavior in our government is not acceptable and that we're mad as hell and we're not going to take it anymore!!!

I am not well-adjusted

I am not well adjusted because I think the government should stay out of my business. I am not open-minded because I don't think Barak Hussein Obama is qualified (or eligible for that matter) to be our president. I am not pluralistic because I believe if you immigrate to this country...you should have to adjust to us, not the other way around. I am not enlightened because I do not believe we should redefine marriage....... Yep I'm a Republican all right. However, with all due respect to Ms. Garafalo (which is zero) you don't know what you're talking about. You think that being a liberal democrat somehow makes you more compassionate than I. Well, that's just stupid. I just believe that compassion should be a personal choice and done at a local and personal level....not forced on me by a tyrannical centralized socialist government. I, as a thinking individual, believe that the Constitution of the United States of America provides equal opportunity, not equal results. I do not believe that someone who refuses to educate themselves, expand their skill set to match the needs of the job market, and chooses to sit around and have babies with no father present and no visible means of support, deserves the same stuff as I do. Call me cold hearted and cruel if you must, but I'm right and you're wrong and that is why we have a generation of children about to enter the work force who have no work ethic, believe that everything should be handed to them regardless of their effort, and have no understanding of personal responsibility or accountability (thank you President Clinton).

You, Ms. Garafalo, besides being a constant irritation and distraction for me when watching 24, are an idiot. But this is America and you have that right.....so spew on darlin', nobody with a brain is listening.

I want to marry my cat!!

Well, not really, I don't have a cat...don't like cats if you're forcing me to be honest. But this was the first thing I thought of when the libs in Kalifornia went nuts over Prop 8. I don't think they understand that it isn't gay people getting married that has most people freaked out. It is the redefinition of marriage. I really don't think that most people care if Ellen and Portia get married or not. I think that they care if marriage becomes a joke. If you redefine marriage for one group, it will have to be redefined for everyone. Suddenly it won't just be Mr. Sulu and his longtime partner sharing the toothpaste. First the polygamists will insist that we allow 1 man to be legally married to 24 women, bigamy will have to be legal and, since this is America...the most creative country in the world, there will be a guy on a ranch in Montana who wants to marry his horse, a woman in upstate New York who wants to marry her cat, and a geek in Washington State who wants to marry his AlienWare; and the ACLU will charge into court to see to it that everyone is allowed to marry anyone and anything they want.

Because, you see, that's how we roll, we want the freedom to do and have whatever we want, but we don't want to have to think about pesky little things like consequences. The libs have taught us that it really doesn't matter the environment children are raised in, they are who they are no matter if their mother is a horse. They have taught us that personal repsonsiblity and accountability are only for conservatives, everyone else can say what they like and that's freedom of speech, they can do what they like and if someone dies in the process, well that's because of the sugar in Twinkies.

So, to all my liberal friends out there, people who vote against gay marriage aren't haters, nor do they want anyone to have less freedoms than anyone else, they just don't want geeks to marry their computers, get a surrogate to have a baby for them and call that a family.
